Short report summer school 'Migrant women on the labour market - identifying determinants and consequences of labour market inequalities considering the intersection between gender and ethnicity'

This summer school was organised by AIAS, from 24-28 October 2016, at Amsterdam, the Netherlands.

From the 24th until 28th of October 2016, the InGRID winter school on the position of migrant women in the labour market took place in Amsterdam. The winter school was organized by the Amsterdam Institute for Advanced Labour Studies (AIAS - http://www.uva-aias.net/en/home) and brought together 20 early stage researchers from all over Europe to discuss the intersection of gender and ethnicity in labour market research. During five days of workshops, the participants discussed with experts, presented their own work and gained hands-on experience during PC lab sessions. Prominent discussions included the issue of multiple discrimination and the need to design targeted policies to improve the position of migrant women in the labour market. The winter school closed with a panel debate on policy recommendations, featuring amongst others Dutch member of Parliament Amma Asante and a representative of the committee that recently performed an audit of the diversity practices of the University of Amsterdam.
